Liu Bo

Liu Bo Laoshi has an impressive teaching experience of almost 30 years. He graduated from Northeast Normal University with a Master’s Degree in World History, a Bachelor’s Degree from Jilin University, and a Diploma in Teaching from Changchun Educational Institute. He was a principal in one of the enrichment centres in Singapore for over 11 years and an assistant principal in a foreign language school in China for 5 years. On top of that, he also taught at a secondary school in China.

Having spent most of his career in the education sector, he exhibits an unparalleled passion and dedication in both teaching and learning. Liu Laoshi is arguably the most thoughtful, patient, and witty teacher there is! He always brightens up the day of not just the students but also his colleagues. On the other hand, his plethora of teaching experience makes him a seasoned educator which reflects in his students’ exam grades. Wang Laoshi, as she’s affectionately known by her students, is the founding partner of EduGrove and the creator of its curriculum and teaching methodology. As the Head of Teaching and Curriculum, she is also the master trainer of all EduGrove’s teachers. Wang laoshi is also the main author of the assessment book series “Step-By-Step Chinese Composition” and “O’ Level Chinese Composition Material Review of Popular Topics”.

Wang laoshi has more than 20 years of experience teaching Chinese across all levels. She possesses a Higher Education Teaching Certificate from Harvard University and was awarded a Superior Scholarship after graduating in the top 5% of her cohort with a Bachelor of History Degree from Zhejiang University. She started off her career as an educator by serving as an Assistant to the Dean and a Student Mentor in Zhejiang University after graduation.

Following a move to Singapore in 1998, and a few years of donning the Kebaya as a ‘Singapore Girl’, Wang Laoshi returned to her first love, TEACHING! She spent the next 10 years teaching at a renowned enrichment centre chain and was the Head of Mandarin EduDrama Programmes by the time she left the company.

Wang Laoshi is a proud mother of two teenage boys and also a seasoned voiceover artist. Listen out for her voice on television commercials and public service announcements!

Wang Mengxi

Mengxi Laoshi graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese (with a minor in Translation) from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU). She was a recipient of the Lotus on Water Gold Medal Award for her extensive research on the language development of bilingual children. Mengxi Laoshi, a Singaporean PR, is very familiar with our local education system having attended our local secondary and junior college after her relocation to Singapore from Shandong, China, when she was just 13. She also has years of experience as a private tutor to students in the primary and secondary levels.

Mengxi Laoshi was also awarded 1st Prize (Secondary School Category) for the NUS Centre For The Arts, Chinese Scriptwriting Competition, in 2005. A daughter of a university professor, Mengxi drew inspiration from her mother’s popularity amongst her students. As a result, she always aspired to be a great teacher, just like her mum! Mengxi’s mastery of the Chinese language, infectious energy, fun-loving personality and tireless dedication, translate to dynamically effective lessons for her students.

JiaJia Laoshi, as fondly known by her students has been with EduGrove for several years. As one of EduGrove’s curriculum writers, she co-authored our assessment book series,“Step-By-Step Chinese Composition”, “O-Level Chinese Composition Material Review of Popular Topics” and “Step-By-Step Chinese Comprehension”. She possesses a Master’s Degree in Language Studies from National University of Singapore (NUS) and Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language & Literature Degree from Beijing Language & Culture University (BLCU) in China.

As our Head of Online Learning, JiaJia Laoshi is equipped with strong technical skills to design our online courses and products. In class, she is a caring and loving teacher whose warmth and sincerity can be felt through the way she tries her best to understand each their unique personality and learning methods. With her motivated personality and years of experience, she has always been one of EduGrove’s most popular teachers.

With close to 20 years of teaching experience both in Singapore and China as a Performing Arts and Chinese Language Teacher, Fan Zhan Chi Laoshi looks to share her knowledge and love for Drama in Education to help students achieve their best potential. Being a Permanent Resident in Singapore, Fan Laoshi’s experience in guiding her son through his education in the country, together with her years of experience teaching students in the primary and secondary levels, makes Fan Laoshi a very versatile teacher who is able to teach across varying age levels.

During her free time, she enjoys listening to classical music, playing sports, and reading literary works to expand her knowledge.

 

Feng Yi Qin

Feng Yiqin Laoshi has been with EduGrove for several years. She is one of our most popular teachers as she is deemed as one of our PSLE and O-Levels specialists. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Wuhan University and was awarded a scholarship for the top 10% of students for 2 consecutive years. She then came to Singapore and graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Master’s Degree in Asian Studies. 

Feng Laoshi’s experience in teaching both Chinese and English composition writing to students aged 9 – 17 years old, as well as teaching Hanyu Pinyin to preschool children, makes her a very versatile teacher with the ability to guide students of all ages and of diverse learning styles. Her bilingualism also allows her to build strong communication with not just the students, but with the parents as well.

Tan Meiying Laoshi, originally from Shaanxi province in Xi’an, China, moved to Singapore in August 2020. Thereafter, she graduated with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Teaching from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU). She also possesses a Diploma of Education in Early Childhood from Xi’an University in China. Tan Laoshi has an impressive background as an Educational Vlogger with over 17,000 followers. Known for uploading informative videos such as children drama, songs, and instructional videos, she also creates research articles on best educational practices. She used to be a Vice-Principal at a Kindergarten in Shaanxi, China, wherein she led a team of 20 teachers, developed curriculum and teaching plans, and organised school-based events and staff trainings. 

Coming from a family of teachers, Tan Laoshi is very passionate and confident in teaching. She strongly believes that all students need is a little help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them. Thus, she always goes the extra mile to help every student, to water their hopes and to believe in them. Tan Laoshi’s endless positivity and enthusiasm definitely makes it a joy to be in her class!

Her passion in teaching emanates from her desire to set forth a learning experience that would make a difference not only in students’ academics but also in their personal life.

Tan Chang Laoshi holds a Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese as an International Language from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Teaching from Changchun Normal University in China. She interned as a teacher in one of the Primary Schools in Changchun, China. She also worked as a Teaching Assistant in a training school before she became a Chinese language teacher at a tuition centre here in Singapore.

She strives to ensure that all her students enjoy learning the Chinese language not just for academic purposes but also as part of their day-to-day life. She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Philosophy of China (Chinese literature and Chinese culture) from East China Normal University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Politics from Harbin Normal University.

Given her rich experience in teaching, Qiu Laoshi is well-known for improving students’ academic performance in the most effective way. Before she joined EduGrove, she was a curriculum writer for International schools and has taught students from as young as 2 years old to an adult. Her unique methods in teaching urge students to excel not only in her classes but in all aspects of their life. On top of that, she has a strong passion for calligraphy and love to share her knowledge on the Chinese culture with all her students!

Her strong command in both the English and Chinese language has allowed her to build effective communication with parents and helps her to understand and connect better with students.

Wang Laoshi’s dedication in ensuring that her classes are fun and effective, makes every lesson an enjoyable one. She also received the second prize while taking part in a teaching plan presentation contest in Yuekou Town, Tianmen City. Her outgoing and motivated personality makes her an extraordinary teacher as she never fails to capture every single student’s attention from her class.

Ma Yu Jun Laoshi graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics from Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). She also has a Diploma in Early Childhood Studies from Temasek Polytechnic. As a Singaporean, Ma Laoshi is very familiar with our local education system having attended our local secondary, polytechnic and university after her relocation from Guangzhou, China when she was 15 years old. She also has years of experience with children as a local preschool teacher.

Ma Laoshi is a lively person with a cheerful personality, and finds joy in teaching young ones. She finds it exciting to work with children and help them to achieve their goals. Her love for languages has made her pick up more languages other than English and Chinese. She hopes to impart the art in the Chinese language to the students and make them fall in love with it as much as she does. Her strong command of both the English and Chinese Language also has allowed her to build effective communication with the students and parents.

Zhang Xiu Qin

Zhang Xiu Qin Laoshi has a strong passion for teaching and is an advocate of life-long learning. She graduated with a Master’s degree in teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages from Jinan University and a Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from Yunyang Teachers’ College. Before joining EduGrove, she started her teaching journey at tuition or enrichment centres in Singapore, teaching students ranging from as young as 4 years old to 16 years old for a span of more than 10 years.

Zhang Laoshi has a remarkable track record of achieving 100% pass rates for all her PSLE and O-Levels students. She is well-known for imparting effective studying methods to her students and helping students regain interests in Chinese learning. She is a friendly person with an easy-going personality, and loves to interact with children.
