Since our founding, we firmly believe that the educational journey goes beyond just scoring well in exams; it is about equipping students with the skills and competencies they need to thrive in their future tertiary education and adult professional lives. In our programmes, our primary aim is to enhance your child’s Chinese language proficiency and academic achievements. However, we also go a step further by recognising the significance of nurturing 21st-century skills, which are increasingly crucial in today’s ever-changing world.
The classroom activities students engage in serve a dual purpose, boosting not only their Chinese language proficiency but also nurturing vital skills such as critical thinking, creativity, presentation abilities, and problem-solving. Our games and dramas are thoughtfully crafted to stimulate their innovation and analytical thinking capabilities. Teachers play a pivotal role as facilitators, asking questions and challenging the young minds to think on their feet to win. Skills and habits that are usually acquired outside the confines of the four walls are now honed through fun and play in the classrooms.
By prioritising both academic excellence and the development of these essential 21st century competencies, our aim is to empower students to become well-rounded individuals, ready to face the demands of their adult and professional lives with confidence and adaptability. This comprehensive approach prepares them not just for success in the classroom, but also for a future in which adaptability, creativity, and strong communication and problem-solving skills are highly valued.
Circle Time is used to encourage students to converse using the language, often applying many of the keywords previously learnt to express themselves. Through this activity, students not only become more comfortable practicing speaking the language, but they are able to hone their presentation and listening skills whilst building their confidence.
New vocabularies are introduced using Active Learning Games as students are coaxed through play to verbalise flash cards while they learn the meaning and pronunciation of the words. Learning through play is not only fun, it is more engaging and make learning more effective.
Role-Playing and Improvisational Drama are drama in education techniques used to coax students to apply the keywords learnt into their natural dialogues. Students are immersed into unscripted imaginary scenarios challenging them to think on their feet. Ultimately, it cements important commonly tested keywords into the long-term memory.
At the end of it all, students will put all they have learnt into paper practice through Written Exercises. This provides students with ample practice of all sections of the Chinese examination papers and enable them to approach exams calmly and with confidence. Our syllabus is carefully crafted by our former MOE PSLE marker and her team of curriculum writers, aimed to get our students to ace their exams.
As with most skills, language proficiency is attained from practice and regular use. Through our classroom activities, students constantly coaxed to vocalise and apply the vocabulary learned through discussion, play, and drama. This approach not only reinforces student’s understanding of the language but also provides a supportive environment for them to express themselves using the newly learned words and phrases, helping them to remember better. Teachers actively engage with students, fostering a dynamic exchange that enhances language retention and application in real-life communication scenarios.
Through our interactive activities, students are coaxed to use the Chinese language and learn through PLAY. They are immersed into everyday scenarios where vocabulary learned is actively used, leading to the retention of keywords in their long-term memory.
This approach enables them to seamlessly integrate what they’ve learned into their dialogues, making sentence formation and the application of keywords second nature.
Traditionally, Chinese learning is regarded as tedious and time consuming with too much emphasis on memorizing. Often, whatever that was learned for spelling tests are quickly forgotten because it was only stored in short term memory.
At EduGrove, our focus is on long term retention of the vocabularies taught. Using methods that involves active learning through play, direct application through discussions, conversations, and role playing and improvisational drama techniques, we make learning not only FUN, but more ENGAGING, and ultimately more EFFECTIVE! Students retain what is taught in class for life and do not have to spend too much time trying to revise them again.

EduGrove’s way of conducting Chinese lessons requires a very special breed of Chinese teacher. They are dedicated educators focused on meeting the needs of every class as a whole and every individual student in their care. Essentially they take on the role of form teachers. Working closely with parents, EduGrove teachers are concerned as much with the holistic development of their students as they are with nurturing and improving their Chinese studies.
Our teachers are also able to communicate with English-speaking parents and work closely with them to improve their child’s Chinese language abilities.
EduGrove has helped thousands of students not only achieve success in their Chinese grades but also fall in love with the language through our simple yet revolutionary approach. If your child requires something a little different from the norm, be it to focus on composition writing or one-to-one tutoring, we are able to tailor a specific plan to suit their needs.
Through updates and feedback after each class, teachers work hand-in-hand with parents to ensure their child’s positive progress. We track the progress of each student, cultivating their strengths and identifying areas for improvement. Regular evaluation allows teachers to adjust the goals for each student according to their learning style.
We aim for big successes but keep our class sizes small. With a maximum of 12 students per group, teachers are able to pay close attention to the needs and development of every student in their care. Each classroom has a dedicated area for drama and games, as well as desk-bound activities. Teaching takes place in spacious, light-filled studios, equipped with state-of-the-art learning tools, enabling students of all ages and levels to play, discover, and thrive in a truly conducive learning environment.
Not only do we help students ace their Chinese examinations, we also develop their 21st century competencies like creativity, critical thinking, and presentation skills that are crucial for them to thrive in their future tertiary education and adult professional lives.

We use drama, word games, and creative activities interactively not only to excite, motivate, and inspire, but more importantly to coax the students to vocalise and apply the keywords and phrases taught. These dynamic learning tools also help students remember more effectively.

Our curriculum is designed to ignite every student’s desire to learn, which means every activity is designed to be FUN!
Instead of focusing on the tedious memorisation of keywords, we use drama and word games in all classes from Preschool through to Primary and Secondary to help students remember lesson content in a more FUN, ENGAGING, and EFFECTIVE way!
