Chinese Preschool - Ignite The Passion for Mandarin Mastery

Chinese enrichment classes for preschoolers help children gain a strong foundation and genuine interest in the Chinese language.

Whether it’s improving your child’s Chinese readiness for Primary School or fostering an interest in Mandarin, our preschool programmes across Singapore can equip your child with foundational skills, including character recognition, pronunciation, and writing sequences.

Children in N1, N2, K1, and K2 are taking their first steps toward language – setting the right foundation for learning at this stage of development can have a big impact on literacy skills. Our programme is designed to captivate students’ interest from the outset, combining our methodology with interactive activities to build a strong foundation in Chinese language and culture.

Building on our Mandarin playgroup programme, our preschool Chinese enrichment classes focus on listening and speaking skills before moving on to reading and writing skills.

What The Preschool Enrichment Classes Teach

Our Chinese enrichment classes for preschoolers take place in an all-Mandarin environment where students learn through play, stories, songs, and interactive activities. Everything from simple conversations to games is facilitated in Mandarin to increase familiarity and exposure to the language.

Enhanced Listening and Speaking Skills

Children learn new words and naturally develop an ear for the language as they play and interact in an all-Mandarin environment. Our Mandarin Educators design class activities that encourage preschoolers to converse, ask questions, and share their thoughts using the language.

Early Literacy Skills

Our programme introduces preschoolers to the basics of reading and writing in Mandarin. Recognising and writing Chinese characters, grasping grammar and sentence structure, and understanding phonetics form part of early literacy development. These same skills help prepare them for formal reading and writing instruction in primary school.

Increased Confidence and Interest in Mandarin

EduGrove makes learning Mandarin feel rewarding for children, creating a positive feedback loop that promotes a genuine interest in the language and a passion to excel in their studies as they transition to primary school.

Our Preschool Mandarin Programme Outline

EduGrove’s preschool Mandarin enrichment classes break the mould of the traditional classroom environment – our teachers combine language learning with interactive activities and creative projects that promote effective learning.

Circle Time

During Circle Time, teachers and children use Mandarin to convey thoughts and ideas with one another through an ongoing facilitated conversation. The activity aims to improve proficiency in Chinese listening and speaking, as well as presentation skills and confidence.

Storytelling

Our teachers use props and puppets to breathe life into stories told in Mandarin. These sessions introduce students to new words and improve their listening comprehension skills. Storytelling also helps to develop a greater appreciation for language and literature.

Active Learning Word Games

Word games involve recognising new words through character recognition, speaking, and application. As preschoolers play along, they gain an expanded vocabulary along with the knowledge of how to use the words they’ve learnt.

Role-Playing Drama

As preschoolers take on character roles in role-play stories facilitated by teachers, they are encouraged to apply learned keywords and express themselves in Mandarin. These drama sessions create opportunities for language practice and familiarisation, contributing to long-term memory retention.

Show and Tell

Show and tell presentations are aimed at honing oratory skills and confidence-building. Teachers challenge students by asking them questions, encouraging them to think on their feet and apply the vocabulary they have learnt, all while having fun!

Reading And Writing Exercises

Reading rhymes and poems aloud helps students to recognise Chinese characters and keywords. Starting with basic strokes at N1, our enrichment classes help students learn how to write individual characters and progressively achieve writing whole sentences by K2.

What Parents Say About Us

This is what parents have to say about our Chinese enrichment classes for preschoolers.
Mummy of Sia Hui Yin, K2

After participating in EduGrove’s Chinese classes, our daughter, Hui Yin, achieved the following. She developed more interest in the Chinese language, her communication has greatly improved, making her a more fluent and confident speaker, she displayed a lot of progress in her dialogue with the right usage of vocabulary, and most importantly, she looks forward to her weekly lesson! Thank you for your guidance.

Mummy of Dylan Ng Qi Hao, K2

Dylan does not speak Mandarin initially but after attending EduGrove’s lessons for three months, he began to speak to us in Mandarin and started reading Chinese books. It has gradually built his confidence in writing and he is happy about going to school. Teacher Liu knows the importance of cooperation between parents and she makes an effort to let parents understand the subjects taught on the day after class. I would like to thank Teacher Liu for her care and guidance for the students. Thank you EduGrove.
